December 9

I had a theme picked out for today, but then it just got bigger and bigger, and I realized I could never get it sorted out in time. So I set that aside and just picked out some fun stuff I liked, and here is it. We'll just have to work on Ancient Erotic Art some other day. Enjoy!

ETA: My apologies to everyone who got most of a week's worth of responses to comments from me yesterday, but I'm not very good at replying in a timely manner. It's in the procrastinator's handbook, after all, and I'm nothing, if not faithful to my chosen lifestyle. :::rolls eyes::: I'll try to do better in the future, though.

SGA Santa

I'm really not sure my recipient is going to like the story I've written her. I've, er, sort of gone off topic with her choices.

I think I'd better give her two stories, just in case she hates this one.

Oops.

Winter - 2, Camille - 0

Winter is kicking my ass so far. Could not get the driveway cleared enough to even bother trying to get the car up. And the car was not fun trying to get out of the spot it was in. It's still in the street, but hopefully it won't be in another big drift when I go to leave for work.

Yeah, it's blowing and drifting out there. I ran the snowthrower and did my two long swaths, and then got energetic and actually cleared the whole bottom third... then I looked up and saw that snow had all blown into the top part. Also, when I say I cleared the bottom third, that's not entirely true. My efforts to get up the driveway last night packed and froze up and I could not dislodge much of the mess.

Oh! I took pictures before I started. are you really clicking this? )

snow sucks, redux

It fucking snowed this evening. I have no idea how much.

Enough to make it impossible to get up my damn driveway.

Car is parked on the street. Hope it's not a "snow emergency", because I live on a snow emergency route and will get ticketed (or possibly towed, I suppose). Hell, hope nobody smashes into it. Streets are not in the best condition and people drive too fast through here.

And tomorrow will be the special fun of digging my car out from the inevitable snowplow mess. And clearing the driveway again to see if I can get up then.

*headdesk*

No real theme today, but I did stick in some threesome shots, just because they were fun...

Enjoy!

my driveway

Please to note the title of my journal-- "An Exercise in Self-Indulgence". How else can you explain sharing pictures of a driveway?

cut for not-overly-large pics )

It started to rain about the time I was leaving for work (when the pics were taken). I've got my fingers crossed that all that nicely cleared driveway isn't a solid sheet of ice when I get home tonight.

Oh, and randomly... my most recent completed knitting project...

Snowy Tuesday

I have no idea what the official accumulation was, but I just cut a couple long swaths through snow that was six inches deep on my driveway.

With the snowthrower I bought last year and never used. :) I'm glad it works. And dingaling me still hadn't removed the pricetag thingy dangling off it (I bought the floor sample). I had to learn a bit about paying attention to where I was going when I managed to do a diagonal across one part of the drive. Oops.

The snow is very pretty, I will admit. But I am not looking forward to driving in it.

And there's snow/sleet mix in the forecast for this afternoon/evening, so it's possible all my driveway work will be for nothing.

December 7, Let's Kiss

I was looking at one of my favorite Toulouse-Lautrec paintings yesterday, and realized I have never posted it on Smutday. So I decided to share some kissing pics today.

Huh, I must be slipping! There's nothing in here beyond some PG13 partial nudity. Don't worry, I'll make up for it in the Penis Picture Post coming up next!

Enjoy!

snow sucks

Who knew that depression would change my attitude about snow and winter in general? I sure didn't.

I just spent entirely too long outside clearing my too-fucking-long driveway and then my car...

I have a detached garage. It sits at the back of the property, so it's a little walk from the door. And spiders live there when the weather isn't bad, so normally I don't use the garage. But this time of year, it's in my best interest to deal with the walk and just park inside. Especially if I'm not paying attention to the weather. I swear the crap was thicker on the car than it was on the driveway.

And we didn't even get that much snow, but there was frozen crap underneath, so it was a pain to clear. And really, my driveway's not all that clear. I probably should have used more ice melt. I may regret that when I come home tonight.

All the snow can just stop. We don't need any snow this winter. Or any frozen precipitation, period.

My day so far

Earlier this week I got a virus on my computer. I didn't have time to reformat for and re-install everything during the week and yesterday I had a headache most of the day so finally after 5 days of not being able to use google I reformatted my computer and I spent the last 5-6 hours re-installing everything and making sure my settings are correct.

Now this time, i'm using Acronis True Image Home 2009 to make a image of my system/c drive so next time I should be able to load the backup up that I'm making right this minute instead of spending another whole Sunday reformatting and re-installing.

I've never made a disk image before so I'm a bit leery as to how it's supposed to work and I'll probably end up overkilling on backups but seriously this last virus was most annoying!

I should have some recs coming up soon! I couldn't post anything through the week because being online was an exercise in frustration with pop ups all over the place!

More Virtual Gifts!

I love all the holiday greetings! :) Though I'm puzzled as to why I'm getting them all today??? Did I miss the fandom memo that today is the day to send out virtual gifts???

Though I'm a bit baffled as what I did to deserve everyone sending me cards I can't deny that it touched me and I really appreciate it.

Thank you!

December 6 - Snowfall

Damned if it didn't snow last night! It's only the first week in December, I'm not ready for snow. Unfortunately, though, I don't always get what I want, do I? Oh well. So to commemorate the first snow fall of the year (at least here in Boston), today's theme is Snowfall. All the pictures you'll see today have something to do with snow. That includes today's Penis Picture Post, so bundle up, and check it out!

Enjoy!

A Time to Die ....A time to mourn when is that?

In case anyone has wondered where in the Nine hells I have gotten off to lately, this semster has been kicking my tosh. Flus, Sinus infections, bronchitis, regular class, Social Community Needs Asssesment Project, All and asundrey work for Journalism class... when did Freshmen/Junior classes start to take so much work, and now finales.

Also my grandfather has been in and out of the hospital three times in the last month, with heart problems. This time was the last time. They finally found the problem and did heart surgery, Wensday. It was to late, he was in organ faliure thursday-by evening they were keeping him comfortable. At least he was lucid, even with morphine, and responsive, though he had a tube and could not talk I think he knew we were all there, and got to say goodbye. At least I hope that was what I was seeing. By early Friday morning he had slipped into a coma. My grandmother and the kids pulled the machines-I hope they left the tube in- I haven't asked. If not I don't want to know, I couldn't forgive them, if they made him slowly suffogate. By around 12:45 he was gone.

Saturday I spent at a meeting working on the WCC Needs Assesment Survey. Tonight I have to do/fininsh a eight page term paper. The Funeral is Wensday. I am not sure I am going to pass all my classes this semster. My one teacher is being an ass. I really can't deal with him now. We'll see. If I don't pass I can either retake it or appeal it. I will probably retake it. I don't feel like the hassel.

Mom can't eat wheat. Here's a flour-less choc cake.

Choooooocolate.

Completely wheat-free.

Flourless Chocolate Cake
(Recipe source The Gourmet Cookbook)

Ingredients:

8 ounces good quality bittersweet (not semi-sweet) chocolate, roughly chopped
2 sticks unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1 1/2 cups sugar
6 eggs
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease a 9 or 10 inch springform pan and line the bottom with wax or parchment paper (cut into a circle to fit bottom of pan). Make sure to grease the liner as well.

In a double broiler or in a large bowl over a pan of simmering water, add chocolate and butter. Stir constantly until melted. Remove bowl from heat and whisk in sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Last, sift cocoa powder into mixture and whisk until just combined.

Pour batter into prepared springform pan and bake for 35-40 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out with moist crumbs and top should have a thin crust. Cool cake in pan on a rack for 10 minutes and then remove sides of pan. Invert cake on a plate and then back onto the rack to fully cool before serving.

Yield: 10-12 servings

Transcripts arrived.

Ah. My transcripts finally arrived from Seattle Central.

I've dug my SAT scores out of the boxes.

I have the transcripts from UW.

Time to wave it all in front of the state of Maryland Dept of Education to see what I need next to teach.

Listening to the soundtrack from Out Of Bounds.

And snow has frosted all the trees. I think this is going to be a snowy Christmas.
