More than 25 million men, women and children have already died of AIDS, and an estimated 33.2 million people around the world are currently living with HIV infection. Last year alone, an estimated 2.5 million new HIV infections occurred worldwide, and 2.1 million people died from AIDS. The plague is still out there, and we can't stop fighting now.

I found a few things I wanted to share with you...an AIDS awareness quiz you should check out - see how much you really know. I got 10 out of 10 on the Easy level, I don't think I'd do so well on the more difficult ones, though. Also, some world cartoonists views of the AIDS epidemic - I found some of them rather enlightening. And I made some icons - help yourselves, pass them around if you want, or link back to this post if you would rather. Credit is optional. I'd just be thrilled to see you use them.

Artist - Fraga, Mexico

Artist - Battistini, France

Artist - Luciano Felix, Brazil

Artist - Shaym Mohan, India

Artist - Spacca, Brazil

Artist - Vascoli, Brazil

As the door closed behind Daniel, Jack grabbed him, pushed him up against the door, and pressed his hand across Daniel’s mouth.

“Don’t say anything, Daniel, just listen.” He spoke rapidly, whispering into Daniel’s ear. Daniel tried to nod, but Jack's hand kept him firmly in place.

“I know you’re going to tell me it’s just the wine – that there was something in that stuff we drank tonight that’s making me do this. And maybe that’s true, but it’s not forcing me to do something I don't already want – it’s just lowered my inhibitions a bit Daniel, allowing me the freedom to do something I’ve been aching to do for a long time.”

Jack moved his hand away but before Daniel could take a breath to speak, Jack closed his mouth with a kiss. His heart was pounding – a combination of the drink and sheer nerves, but he couldn’t stop. He'd been waiting for this moment for too long, he needed this. For a moment, Daniel went completely still. Then he jerked back sharply, banging his head soundly against the door behind him.

He heard Daniel's quick indrawn breath – and then his whispered voice: “Can I just say ow?”

Jack sighed. It look like his gamble hadn't paid off. He wondered if their hosts had left any more of that wine around - maybe if he drank enough of it, he could pretend this never happened. He pulled away, ready to apologize, but Daniel grabbed the front of his uniform and yanked him back.

“Where the hell do you think you’re going, flyboy?”

Daniel hauled Jack into a kiss, taking him by surprise. Instinctively, his mouth opened to Daniel's eager tongue as he plundered Jack’s mouth – yeah, he’d read the books, although he’d fervently deny it – and he knew the cliché, but he was military dammit, he knew plundered when he felt it, and this was it.

Too overwhelmed at first to do anything but let Daniel have his way, instinct soon kicked in and he began to reciprocate, sucking and teasing Daniel's tongue until he was doing a little plundering of his own. Reveling in the hot slide of lips and tongue, Jack forgot about everything else, lost in the kiss. Nothing else mattered – nothing but this moment.

Jack felt the kiss change, slow down and ease into something more intimate, more sensual. He reveled in the difference. This was what he'd imagined, what he'd dreamed about - this connection. He felt as much as heard Daniel moan into their kiss, and he knew - Daniel felt the same thing.

When Daniel eventually pulled back, Jack tried to follow him, but Daniel shook his head.

“No. Wait.”

Jack blinked at Daniel, trying to focus. He felt like a little boy who’d had his candy taken away, trying not to pout.

“What? Why?”

Daniel’s voice was low and sultry.

“Don’t worry, Jack, we’ll get back to the kissing. But don’t you think we’d be much more comfortable on the bed?”

When Daniel tilted his head in that direction – raising his eyebrow the way he usually did when he knew he had the upper hand – Jack grabbed his arm and practically threw him on the bed, sprawling on top of him.

“Oh, yeah. That’s much more like it. Now, where were we?”

~
That is, after all, one of the main reasons I got the account in the first place.

Okay, so 300 icons, my own email address, no more ads, up to 1000 friends :::snicker::: - these are also all good reasons to get a paid account. But I've really missed my polls. Once I get my shit together (stop laughing!) I expect I'll have a poll or two to share. Whee!

So to celebrate, here's a little something that made me laugh out loud. I picked this up from MoonShayde over at that other place...great link.

Just make sure your volume is turned up and wait for it, okay?

Clicky, clicky...

Enjoy!

~

WTF? I just spent 15 or so minutes writing out a post to put in asylum_promo about Insane Thursdays, and it disappeared! What's up with that? When I posted, I got the whole "Update successful. You can view your updated journal here" thingie. But when I click on the link, my post isn't there.

I checked to make sure they hadn't gone to moderated posting or something, but there's no mention of it on the profile page. I've been back three or four times, just in case things are slow for some reason. But it's still not there. I hate the idea of having to write it again...I guess this time I'll be sure and save a copy of it, just in case.

Anyone know what that's all about? Does this happen often here?

Shit.

ETA: 45 minutes later - it finally showed up. So it's a good thing I decided to hold off re-writing it. I hope that's not likely to happen again. grouch...grouch...grouch...

~

Hey guys...I haven't been around my journal much - computer died, and I had to get it replaced. Knowing how strapped I am trying to deal with disability and all, you know I was panic struck. But a wonderful guy over on LJ, who just happens to live in my hometown was able to help me out. We're still struggling with the sound - I've got none at the moment, but at least I have a computer again.

Anyway. The main thing I wanted to let you know about is a new feature over at smutday: Insane Thursdays! Although you know you can post anything you want there any day of the week, starting next Thursday we'll be celebrating the advantages we have over here on Insane Journal - namely, the right to post anything we want without having our own journaling service breathing down our necks to make sure we're not doing anything they've decided isn't good for <strike>their advertisers</strike> us.

So our first order of business? Chan. Yes, that's right. The main thing that sent many of us over here in the first place.

Did you write a smutty fic about two underage kids exploring their sexuality? Did you always want to? Did you read a heart-warming PWP about a teacher and his favorite pupil? Did you make a piece of fan art that crosses the age barrier? Is there a backstory about your favorite fandom brothers that makes you drool? Would you like to share with us? Thursday is the day to do it.

Just keep in mind, although Insane Journal has pledged not to interfere, the rules are simple - anything like this belongs under a cut tag and locked to keep minors out. So if you'd rather not join smutday, but wouldn't mind sharing a fic with us for the Grand Opening of Insane Thursday, you can just let me know, and I'll take care of it. Otherwise, just sign up if you're not already a member, and spread the love! *g*

See you around...

A Pimp Post, and a WTF?

So I started up a new Comm yesterday. Well, it's new for Insane Journal, at least. I've started a version of Smutday here, as a kind of Sister Comm to the one at Live Journal. It won't be a mirror, because I don't see how we could duplicate everyone posts, but I will be mirroring most of my posts, and will probably be linking to some Live Journal posts here at IJ's smutday, and vice versa. Since we already have some Live Journal members that have signed up here, I do expect to have some overlap, but hopefully the two will work together, to enrich the enjoyment of Smut everywhere! *g*

Since there are some things that we can do here that we can't at Live Journal, I expect that we will have some posts that are a bit more edgy on this Comm, but don't worry, everything will be marked clearly, so anyone who doesn't wish to see the stuff that pushes the boundaries will be able to avoid those posts. This month, the theme is Kinks and Fetishes, and I've already found some stuff that I wasn't sure people would accept easily...maybe this weekend I'll put together a post of art that challenges people's perspectives. I like that kind of thing. Might as well take advantage of the opportunity, right? Heh heh heh heh...

So check out our posts - we have two up at the moment - one for anyone to view (nothing with more than an R rating in this post), and one for members only, which has all the NC17 pics in it (full frontal nudity, and more explicit sexual content...my kind of post! :::big evil grin:::) Alert: Please be aware that clicking on either of these two links will take you directly into the posts, neither of which are Work or Child Safe!

So come on over and check us out!

smutday

And now for something completely different:

Has anyone had a problem with disappearing comments on Insane Journal today?

I had seven comments on the post before last - some of which were replies I wrote just yesterday in response to people's comments. I was going to post the three icons in my last post in a reply to one of paian's comments, to show her what she'd inspired, but when I tried to post, IJ told me I couldn't reply to a comment that didn't exist.

I blinked at the supposedly non-existent comment, then tried again. Same results. I left IJ, came back in to try again and got the same response. Logged out and back in, tried again and got the same thing. Then I tried to comment directly to the post instead of to a comment to the post, and all seven of the other comments disappeared. Now I don't have any comments on that post.

Huh? What the eff is up with that? This doesn't happen all the time on IJ does it? 'Cause that would be a real pain in the ass, if ya know what I mean?

~
