In Remembrance of Darin

Today, World AIDS Awareness Day, I'm remembering my dear friend Darin, who died of AIDS related cancer on September 6th, 2002.Today, World AIDS Awareness Day, I'm remembering my dear friend Darin, who died of AIDS related cancer on September 6th, 2002.

The fight is not over. More than 25 million men, women and children have already died of AIDS, and an estimated 33.2 million people around the world are currently living with HIV infection. Last year alone, an estimated 2.5 million new HIV infections occurred worldwide, and 2.1 million people died from AIDS. The plague is still out there, and we can't stop fighting now.

I found a few things I wanted to share with you...an AIDS awareness quiz you should check out - see how much you really know. I got 10 out of 10 on the Easy level, I don't think I'd do so well on the more difficult ones, though. Also, some world cartoonists views of the AIDS epidemic - I found some of them rather enlightening. And I made some icons - help yourselves, pass them around if you want, or link back to this post if you would rather. Credit is optional. I'd just be thrilled to see you use them.
