Just 24 hours left to get your Oz Magi wishes in!

Monday night at nine pm EST is the cut off, so if you've been putting it off, this is your last chance to make your wishes, so get busy!  Remember, you do not need to fulfill anyone else's wishes in order to make your own requests.  Just promise to be an enthusiastic commenter to those who do the writing and artwork.  Which is a pretty excellent deal, if you ask me.

For those of you who don't have a Live Journal, don't worry, you don't need one.  You can sign up with just your name as long as you leave Rustler a valid email with which to contact you.

Here's the link to the rules and sign-up post, so go on over, and sign up now!

Now I have to decide what I want to request.  This is always tough.  And for some reason it seems even tougher this year.  Jeez...what to do, what to do...

It's somebody's birthday...

As usual, I'm crazy late, since it's been Ozsaur's birthday all day long. But the sentiment is what counts, right? So here's to my favorite beta, and dearest friend... I love you, Stacey!

This last picture had to go under a cut, since it's a bit on the smutty side...if you're under eighteen, DON'T LOOK! (If you're under eighteen, what the hell are you doing on my journal, anyway?) *g*

Oz Big Bang is now open!

Five authors. Three hundred thousand words.

Eight artists. Twenty-six pieces of art and music.

Please remember to leave feedback for both the writers and artists.
Everyone worked so hard, and delivered amazing work.

The first annual OZ Big Bang is now yours to enjoy!

My story is Scar Tissue, which is a follow-up piece to my series Alvarez Gets Blindsided. However, it is not necessary to have read that series to read Scar Tissue.

83,700 words, baby!  Damn!  And it's not even the longest story on the site!

Don't forget to check out the excellent art for Scar Tissue by [info]neevebrody - here and [info]beechercreature - here!

Oh, and if you want to check out my first ever photoshopped graphic: you can find it here.

See ya there!

ETA:  Der...it's been open for most of a week now, but I forgot to mention it at Dreamwidth and Insane Journals, so I'm adding this post a bit late.  So if you want to see what's been occupying my time for the last three months or so...now's your chance.

Word Count Check in for August and September

Oops. Looks like I missed August's check in, so I'll double up here and do both in one post. August was a good month. Not as good as July (during which I wrote 67,000 words), but not bad, either. During August I wrote 52,000 words, most of which was on my [info - livejournal.com] oz_big_bang story. I also wrote the second part of my [info - community] kink_bingo line - the Gibbs/Tony sequel to Rough Comfort, the NCIS Tony/OMC, Gibbs/Tony preslash story I wrote in July.

However, I was very unhappy with it, and sent it off to [info - personal] blackchaps to see what she thought. She agreed - I need to do some major surgery on it before it's ready for posting, so you won't see that yet. Hopefully, I'll get it shaped up this month, and can post it, but I'm not making any guarantees. It was a tough story to write, and it will take some time and effort to fix. Good thing the official Kink Bingo is over, so I don't have to worry about deadlines. It will get done - I intend to finish the line before the Amnesty period is over.

But Kink Bingo is not my first priority in October. That would be my [info - livejournal.com] spook_me story, which has already turned into a monster, and I've only written about 1000 words of it so far! But I like the idea a lot, and I'm pleased with the outline, so I'm looking forward to concentrating on it, as soon as I get my art done for Oz Big Bang (I'm doing a last minute pinch-hit for someone who backed out with very little notice.) And that is turning into a major production. I like the concept and what I've got done already, but finishing it is proving difficult.

So back to the Word Count Check In. September...sucked. Big time. But there are reasons for at least some of that. The Big Bang art for one thing, but the main thing was taking care of my Big Bang story (which is called Scar Tissue, btw.) The story is 83,000 words long, people! OMFG!

It's been betaed (sends major smooches in [info - personal] blackchaps general direction.) It will probably get at least a partial second beta, but that depends on others who are still currently writing their own Big Bang fic, so who knows. I also had to go back in and make some major changes in how I was using names - I was all over the place with that. And I had a Spanish adviser for all Miguel Alvarez' bi-lingualisms... Hey, I invented a new word!

So I basically spent the month of September editing my story. Yikes. But except for a last minute second beta, the story is done. And I am very glad. My main concern is that I haven't really been able to write the few times that I"ve tried, but I've been told that after something this huge, it may take me a while to recover. Hopefully my writing mojo will be back soon. The website goes live Oct. 13th, so I'll be linking you to my story then.

Anyway. Despite my abysmal September word count of 2932 words, I am still 10.000 words over my current [info - livejournal.com] getyourwordsout goal, so I'm not complaining. I currently have just over 176,000 words for the year, which means I have three months to write 24,000 more words to reach my 200k goal for 2009.

According to the spreadsheet GetYourWordsOut made for us, if I can write 260 words a day between now and December 31st, I'll hit my goal. If my mojo comes back, I don't see that being a problem. I hope not, because I still have three WIPs that I want to finish before the year is out.

:::crosses fingers:::

Wish me luck, guys...

The Spook Me Multi-Fandom Halloween Ficathon 2009

When hot summer days flee from the chill of autumn, when the nights grow longer and the moon shines cold and bright, the veil between worlds lifts to reveal:

You should sign up right now!

Why, you may ask?

Because everyone loves spooky stories, and Halloween is the best time of year for reading stories that offer pulse pounding thrills, blood curdling dread and hair-raising horror.

Bwah hah hah hah hah hah.....

All fandoms are welcome. Stories can be Gen, Het or Slash. All ratings are accepted. And, yes, you may write RPF if the mood strikes you.

Don't worry, if you'd rather write humor or smut or suspense - we're cool, write whatever you want around the prompts we send you, and we'll be happy!

The prompts are based on old pulp novels and the Creatures you find in those stories. (You do not have to read the books! The titles are for inspiration only.) And you can either choose your own horror Creature from our list, or let us choose a creature for you.

Notes:
This year the sign-up time is much shorter than in the past - you have only until Sept. 15th to sign up.  So don't delay!

I'm  pimping this to Dreamwidth and Insane Journal as well, since you don't need a Live Journal to play - you can post your story anywhere.  All we need is a link to the story for our Master List.

Please feel free to use this post to pimp the challenge to other journals and fandoms.  The more the merrier!

Please join us! (You know you want to!)

Any masochistic betas/editors in the house?

Well...here we are, three weeks away from the Oz Big Bang deadline, and I have a problem.  Everyone I would normally give an Oz story to beta for me is already involved in Oz Big Bang as either a writer, artist or web designer - and two of them are Big Bang Mods as well.  And the crunch is on for all of them.  Not to brag, but I'm farther along in my project than anyone else I know of - my story is written.  Well, the artists just got their projects, so they have reason not to be any farther along, but that's not the point.  I currently have a LARGE story that needs a beta - and no Oz betas in sight.

What I need is a grammar, spelling, sentence structure kind of beta, because if I can get that stuff covered, one or more of my regular betas should have time to cover the Oz content.  The problem is the story is 81,000 words.  Okay, so I guess I should just call it like it is - that's a novel.  A short novel, but still.  A novel.  And it's due on Sept. 13th.  There may be a day or two wiggle room on that date, but I'm not counting on it.

There are two or three non-Oz people out there who I'd love to ask about this (you know who you are :::sends smooches your way:::), but I seriously don't want to put any pressure on anyone who might feel guilty for saying no.  So I'm just throwing it open - if you're interested, or know of someone who might be interested, please let me know.

So yeah...any crazy person wanna take my story on?  I'd be eternally grateful.  Really, I would.  I don't know what I could do about that, except maybe write you some fic or make an icon or a dozen, but still - my eternal gratitude would be yours.

:::blinks hopefully:::

Rough Comfort, NCIS, DiNozzo/OMC, Gibbs/DiNozzo Preslash, NC17

This is the first fic of my Kink Bingo card - written almost a month ago, but hey, both of my betas were as busy with [info - livejournal.com] oz_big_bang as I was, so it took a while to get it ready to share. The Kink Bingo line will be a series of NCIS fic - the first spot was Anonymous Sex (thus the original character), but the rest will be Gibbs/DiNozzo. I'm writing number two right now: Sensation Play. Mmmm...Sensation Play...

Title: Rough Comfort
Fandom: NCIS
Pairings: DiNozzo/OMC, Gibbs/DiNozzo Preslash
Betas: [info]ozsaur and [info]trillingstar, my heroes and shit
Rating: NC17
Warnings: Anonymous Sex, D/s, Spanking, Bondage
Synopsis: When the pressures of work get to be too much, Tony takes to more dangerous bars to work out his aggression and anger on someone tougher than himself. He thinks he's hunting for rough sex to give him a little relief, but what he's really looking for is some Rough Comfort.
Kink Bingo Prompt: Anonymous Sex
Spoilers: None
Word Count: 8480 words
Disclaimer: Don't own 'em - not making any money off 'em. Dern it.
Author's Note: The first square of my Kink Bingo line.

Enjoy!

An Oz fic written for me!

Okay, so I'm like really, really late with this, but I have a good excuse! I was mainlining my [info - livejournal.com] oz_big_bang fic, and I really didn't need the distractions. So I waited until I got the rough draft finished before I read the fic [info - livejournal.com] strawandrain wrote me, and I'm so glad I did, because it's so good... I would have had her characters stuck in my head for days, and I never would have gotten my story done.

Because yes, her fic is that good! I just love it. It's called Not for the Runners, and it needs to be read. So go read it. Now.

Why are you still here?

Okay, so maybe I should explain a bit about it. It was written for the Oz Free For All...remember that? Long, long time ago? I was glad to learn that I wasn't the only one who wrote her FFA story months after the fact. :::blushes::: But it was well worth the wait, I have to tell you.

I asked for: "A fic featuring Father Ray Mukada paired with either Miguel Alvarez, Ryan O'Reily or Chris Keller. Angst is fine, as long as there is lots of hot sex!"

And OMG, that's exactly what she gave me! Not for the Runners is Miguel Alvarez/Father Mukada, and it's hot and angsty and just everything I could have asked for. I am SO enamored of seductions, and Miguel's seduction of Ray Mukada just gave me all sorts of tingly feelings. :::swoons:::

It's incredibly hard for me to write in English, and it's my native language. I can't imagine how hard it is for [info - livejournal.com] strawandrain, but she did it very well. She gets into Miguel's confused and tortured brain and digs around and comes up with all this wonderful imagery, and I have to tell you, this story made my day.

:::smooches [info - livejournal.com] strawandrain:::

btw - I'm trying the crossposting thing, here, so if there's any confusion, please forgive me...I'll fix it as soon as possible.

In Remembrance of Darin

Today, World AIDS Awareness Day, I'm remembering my dear friend Darin, who died of AIDS related cancer on September 6th, 2002.Today, World AIDS Awareness Day, I'm remembering my dear friend Darin, who died of AIDS related cancer on September 6th, 2002.

The fight is not over. More than 25 million men, women and children have already died of AIDS, and an estimated 33.2 million people around the world are currently living with HIV infection. Last year alone, an estimated 2.5 million new HIV infections occurred worldwide, and 2.1 million people died from AIDS. The plague is still out there, and we can't stop fighting now.

I found a few things I wanted to share with you...an AIDS awareness quiz you should check out - see how much you really know. I got 10 out of 10 on the Easy level, I don't think I'd do so well on the more difficult ones, though. Also, some world cartoonists views of the AIDS epidemic - I found some of them rather enlightening. And I made some icons - help yourselves, pass them around if you want, or link back to this post if you would rather. Credit is optional. I'd just be thrilled to see you use them.

Never a Dull Moment, SG-1, Jack/Daniel, NC17

Ozsaur and I have been working hard on this one. I had trouble starting it...so my brilliant Alpha/Beta supplied me with the first 112 words...and a few sentences in the middle too, I have to admit. *g* That's why she's my hero and shit, right? So this is it...hope you enjoy!

Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Pairing: Jack/Daniel
Beta: [info]ozsaur, my hero and shit

Notes: The first 112 words of this fic belong to Ozsaur, so this really is all ozsaur's fault - as usual. With my deepest thanks - as usual.

So I got my confirmation today...

I am now Permanently Insane.

Scary, huh?

Okay, so maybe its just an Insane Journal Account...but it seems fairly momentous, to me. Or maybe that's monstrous? I dunno - I can't decide. It feels weird, anyway. Now I want to make a poll. That is, after all, one of the main reasons I got the account in the first place.

Okay, so 300 icons, my own email address, no more ads, up to 1000 friends :::snicker::: - these are also all good reasons to get a paid account. But I've really missed my polls. Once I get my shit together (stop laughing!) I expect I'll have a poll or two to share. Whee!

So to celebrate, here's a little something that made me laugh out loud. I picked this up from MoonShayde over at that other place...great link.

Just make sure your volume is turned up and wait for it, okay?

Clicky, clicky...

Enjoy!

Well, Fuck Me Earl. (As they say in Seven Mile, Ohio.)

WTF? I just spent 15 or so minutes writing out a post to put in [info]asylum_promo about Insane Thursdays, and it disappeared! What's up with that? When I posted, I got the whole "Update successful. You can view your updated journal here" thingie. But when I click on the link, my post isn't there.

I checked to make sure they hadn't gone to moderated posting or something, but there's no mention of it on the profile page. I've been back three or four times, just in case things are slow for some reason. But it's still not there. I hate the idea of having to write it again...I guess this time I'll be sure and save a copy of it, just in case.

Anyone know what that's all about? Does this happen often here?

Shit.

ETA: 45 minutes later - it finally showed up. So it's a good thing I decided to hold off re-writing it. I hope that's not likely to happen again. grouch...grouch...grouch...

Insane Thursdays

Hey guys...I haven't been around my journal much - computer died, and I had to get it replaced. Knowing how strapped I am trying to deal with disability and all, you know I was panic struck. But a wonderful guy over on LJ, who just happens to live in my hometown was able to help me out. We're still struggling with the sound - I've got none at the moment, but at least I have a computer again.

Anyway. The main thing I wanted to let you know about is a new feature over at [info]smutday: Insane Thursdays! Although you know you can post anything you want there any day of the week, starting next Thursday we'll be celebrating the advantages we have over here on Insane Journal - namely, the right to post anything we want without having our own journaling service breathing down our necks to make sure we're not doing anything they've decided isn't good for their advertisers us.

So our first order of business? Chan. Yes, that's right. The main thing that sent many of us over here in the first place.

Did you write a smutty fic about two underage kids exploring their sexuality? Did you always want to? Did you read a heart-warming PWP about a teacher and his favorite pupil? Did you make a piece of fan art that crosses the age barrier? Is there a backstory about your favorite fandom brothers that makes you drool? Would you like to share with us? Thursday is the day to do it.

Just keep in mind, although Insane Journal has pledged not to interfere, the rules are simple - anything like this belongs under a cut tag and locked to keep minors out. So if you'd rather not join [info]smutday, but wouldn't mind sharing a fic with us for the Grand Opening of Insane Thursday, you can just let me know, and I'll take care of it. Otherwise, just sign up if you're not already a member, and spread the love! *g*

See you around...

Sep. 8th, 2007

A poll, a poll!

:::headdesk:::

I forgot I don't have a paid account over here, yet. I wanted to make a poll, but I can't. Doh! So I made the poll over on Live Journal instead. So if you haven't seen it yet, would you take a look? I'm trying to decide what to do with my fic, and I'd love to know what you think.

It's right here:

"Dusty Who?"

Thanks, guys!

BTW - why won't Insane Journal let me choose my icon when I first make a post? I have to go back in and change it after the fact. What the hell is that about?

~

Sep. 7th, 2007

A Pimp Post, and a WTF?

So I started up a new Comm yesterday. Well, it's new for Insane Journal, at least. I've started a version of Smutday here, as a kind of Sister Comm to the one at Live Journal. It won't be a mirror, because I don't see how we could duplicate everyone posts, but I will be mirroring most of my posts, and will probably be linking to some Live Journal posts here at IJ's [info]smutday, and vice versa. Since we already have some Live Journal members that have signed up here, I do expect to have some overlap, but hopefully the two will work together, to enrich the enjoyment of Smut everywhere! *g*

Since there are some things that we can do here that we can't at Live Journal, I expect that we will have some posts that are a bit more edgy on this Comm, but don't worry, everything will be marked clearly, so anyone who doesn't wish to see the stuff that pushes the boundaries will be able to avoid those posts. This month, the theme is Kinks and Fetishes, and I've already found some stuff that I wasn't sure people would accept easily...maybe this weekend I'll put together a post of art that challenges people's perspectives. I like that kind of thing. Might as well take advantage of the opportunity, right? Heh heh heh heh...

So check out our posts - we have two up at the moment - one for anyone to view (nothing with more than an R rating in this post), and one for members only, which has all the NC17 pics in it (full frontal nudity, and more explicit sexual content...my kind of post! :::big evil grin:::) Alert: Please be aware that clicking on either of these two links will take you directly into the posts, neither of which are Work or Child Safe!

So come on over and check us out!

[info]smutday

And now for something completely different:

Has anyone had a problem with disappearing comments on Insane Journal today?

I had seven comments on the post before last - some of which were replies I wrote just yesterday in response to people's comments. I was going to post the three icons in my last post in a reply to one of [info]paian's comments, to show her what she'd inspired, but when I tried to post, IJ told me I couldn't reply to a comment that didn't exist.

I blinked at the supposedly non-existent comment, then tried again. Same results. I left IJ, came back in to try again and got the same response. Logged out and back in, tried again and got the same thing. Then I tried to comment directly to the post instead of to a comment to the post, and all seven of the other comments disappeared. Now I don't have any comments on that post.

Huh? What the eff is up with that? This doesn't happen all the time on IJ does it? 'Cause that would be a real pain in the ass, if ya know what I mean?

Gratuitous Icon Post x 3!

[info]paian inspired me to make an icon for Under the Influence, the SG-1 drabble I wrote last Saturday. But I made three - I couldn't decide which I liked best. What do you think? Anyone have any preference? Which one should I keep, and should I offer the other two up, or just keep them for myself?

Decisions, decisions...

SG-1 Drabble, Jack/Daniel, NC17

So there's a bit of an Insane Journal Celebration of Smut today. It's over here: Bring Back the Porn - because smut is too precious to waste!

I figured if we're celebrating the stuff that looks endangered over on that other Journal, I should do something a bit on the risky side. But I wasn't in the mood for an underage clone!Jack drabble, so I wrote something with just a hint of non-con in it. Hope this does the trick...

Th-th-th-that's all, folks!

Enjoy the rest of the day!

Bring Back the Porn!

So September First seems to be a good day for me...IJ Fandom is going to have a day of posting porn, to celebrate Insane Journal's freedom  from censorship.  Sounds like a good idea to me.

Bring Back the Porn!

On September 1, all of fandom here on IJ posts a piece of art or writing that has some sort of smut factor. It can be implied, it can be graphic, it can be raunchy, it just needs to be.

Why?

Because after all the censorship issues, fandom needs to bring back the p0rn!

Don't tell me you can't - one sentence, a doodle, all of it will do.

Your Mission is...

  1. Pimp this in your journal

  2. Write or Draw fandom smut

  3. Post on September 01

  4. Comment, Comment, Comment

So come on guys...let's write some porn!

Where the hell am I?

Fairly appropriate thing to be asking on my first post in a blogging service with the auspicious title of Insane Journal. Well, at least I'll feel at home in the Asylum, right? I'm here to keep track of my LJ friends who've made the crossing. Probably won't be around much, unless LJ explodes in a big poof of it's own stupidity. Which is of course a real possibility at this point. Anyway. I'm over at LJ most of the time, so if you want to get in contact with me the best way is at dustandroses@livejournal.com for now at least. We'll see how that goes in the future, right?
